SCOTTISH  INDEPENDENCE

If the Scots want independence let them have it!

It would be a great day for England, the scenario should go like this on independence:

bullet

England would now have a turning point where we could start thinking of ourselves first for once, along with stronger links with Northern Island and Wales.  (We can turn to the debate on our membership of the EU as well)

bullet

The Monarchy to cease any roll they currently play in Scotland,  sell off or retain any properties they own, as negotiated.

bullet

English subsidy to Scotland should end immediately.

bullet

Scotland to collect their own taxes and eventually be responsible for everything north of the border.

bullet

We must honour our responsibility to heath, social security, and pensions for those who have up to date National Insurance and Income tax payments.  The Scottish Parliament could negotiate for fair contributions from us for these services.  Payments towards these services to fade out as our responsibility to those who have paid their contributions changes, eg. death rate and as the Scottish Parliament collects more taxes.

bullet

The cost of policing could be negotiated with us, let's say partly funded by us on a diminishing scale, say over 5 years and partly funded by the new revenue to the Scottish Parliament generated by their taxation policies.

bullet

Scottish regiments to be disbanded, with negotiations about who owns the military hardware.  Scottish military personnel could be offered service in English regiments. England, Northern Island and Wales would still assist in defending Scotland in the event of them being attached, in so doing defend our own interests.

bullet

Administration and collection of revenue for North Sea oil in Scottish waters to be handed over to Scotland, that in English waters to be retained.

bullet

No border control to start with, but let the final decision wait until we have tried it.  Those who want to emigrate south of the border to England should require permission and we would only look to accommodate people with a skill we require or those with independent funds.  certainly no room for those who want to sponge from our system.  There is no fear of political or religious persecution in Scotland.  Migration into Scotland would be at the discretion of their parliament.

bullet

No Scottish MPs in Westminster from day one.  If we hadn't had a Scottish chancellor all of these years we wouldn't be in the mess we are now.

bullet

Lower our financial commitment to the EU as a result of Scotland opting out of the Union.  if the Scots want to be a member, then they must negotiate their own terms, not take a free ride on our ticket.

bullet

Free trade between the two countries, whist it is in our interest.  If Scotland joined the EU we would be compelled, whilst we remain a member, to share free trade.

bullet

The break between Scotland and the Union is an enormous web to unravel, the roll of the Monarchy for example has evolved over hundreds of years, it won't it can't happen overnight.  The road to full independence is perhaps 10 years, longer or shorter, but who knows.  How many more minor project have badly run over time.

bullet

These are just a few of the many areas to be discussed and agreed  and others to be dictated by the remaining members of the Union eg. no Scottish MPs in Westminster, no Scots to take up residence south of the border without specific permission.

bullet

All negotiation should be fair,  but not a penny to the detriment of the remaining Union members, if it is the wish of the Scots to be independent, let them have it but not at our expense.

bullet

We must now seriously question the roll of the EU in our lives, we have been independent and have not been invaded  ( apart for the Scots) for nearly 1000 years are we going to let this financial and brain washing invasion to continue?  In a matter of weeks since signing up for the EU treaty our masters in Europe are suggesting rules that will stifle the London Stock Exchange and move supremacy to France.  France and Germany have failed in war to take control of these Islands, are we now going to lay down and wave our arms and legs in the air and admit defeat?
