Some topics and processes run through the folder - use of computer and constant evaluation for example.
| You can use a PC. for a part of most aspects of your coursework folder, but only a part not as an alternative to writing and drawing by hand. | |
| Evaluating isn't just used once the final product is finished. but to make decisions all the way through. |
Which product shall I choose and why? What are the important points in my Deign Brief? Which Initial Idea shall I choose?
Why have I rejected the other Initial Ideas? Why am I experiencing difficulty making this joint? How can I solve the problem?
Evaluate by asking questions and make statements by discovering the answers to those questions. This should be done for every stage of your project.

Your practical work and your folder are completely mixed together, they go hand in hand, they are complete partners. Although there are separate marks set aside for each, they carry a total of 60% between them. The folder is used not only for areas like research and design for example but to help with the making of your object and recording progress. The areas that are mixed together are items like: Experiments with different materials or finishes. A Plan of making including a cutting list, details about tools required, how you are going to make and an estimate about how long each section might take. A Diary of making with photographs and statements about how you carried out each stage. Recording changes to your planed design or method of making and why. |
